Thanks for bringing up Chopra. He is a very intelligent commentator that I had somehow overlooked.

hi, Torrey --

what a thoughtful commentary...! a lot to chew on. I keep thinking about how Jesus incarnated in Palestine under the Roman rule -- surely that was no picnic, the worst of the worst of oppression and human suffering on the planet in his day. and yet, it proves the point that when the negativity is super-high, the positivity is always attracted and wants to show itself (and the divine, by extension, is more accessible).

no matter what happens on the surface, it's really important for all of us to understand how the Mother is creating the whole play: the script, the the direction, the stage design and lighting... and most of all, the characters. Shakespeare really got to the essence of this world calling it a stage and all the players in it being all of us. unless we can detach enough from the operating day-to-day illusions, we really can't see Her face behind every scene, pulling every string and running the whole show.

whatever happens, the spiritual reality will rise from all of this.

it's a sad commentary on humanity, but most of us really don't learn anything until we're on our knees, suffering. if Mother wants us to go to that distance in order to change our behaviors once and for all, well, She's the house and the house always wins.

but the upside is divine grace, knowledge, enlightenment, freedom from suffering, bliss, and being able to help others out of the morass that is this Kali Yuga.

and yes -- I absolutely agree; this election is for our country's soul. it really is an epic, clear delineation between old and new, business as usual and progressive values, oil-clogged greed arteries that only see $ signs versus green technology that uplifts the planet and its people..... etc., etc., etc.

wild and interesting.

stay tuned for the next chapter.

Well, I think he nailed it. Though it seems unlikely the hordes of "ignorant yahoos for Jesus" who are rallying behind Palin would have any idea what he's talking about. Watching the RNC, and Palin's mean-spirited diatribe in particular, was deeply disturbing. This politics of fear is exactly a projection of the shadow, but that is how all totalitarian regimes come to power - because people are stupid enough to trade their civil liberties for the "homeland security" of a police state. Alx, I saw your optimistic forecast for America's future in the healing thread, and I certainly hope you are right. Because what I see on the national stage is not encouraging - after eight long years of sliding deeper into darkness, it appears we have roughly even odds of voting for more of the same.

With all my heart, I want Obama's call for hope and change to carry the day - but I am keeping my passport close at hand. If this country votes AGAIN for a regime of torture and pre-emptive war, environmental destruction, suspending habeas corpus, warrantless wiretaps, secret prisons, and tax-cuts for millionaires, I just don't see any grounds for "hope". Two more Republican appointments to the Supreme Court, and any progressive agenda for this country is just OVER, for a generation at least. There comes a time to look in the mirror and see that WE are the "evil empire". The prospect of a President McCain - or chillingly worse, President Palin - directing the armed forces in a showdown with Russia is too appalling to imagine. And would that be before or after we invade Iran? Enough is enough, as Obama shouted out in Denver. This election is for our country's soul.
