there's so much going on, it seems, in terms of spiritual practices, teachings, messages, movies, workshops, whatever --

what is moving your heart these days? why?

what would you like to see more of, in your spiritual life?

what would you like to see more of, in the world?

(operators are standing by!)

treating those I love positively to the best of my abilities, and interacting with people as a whole in a positive fashion. there are simple things to make the world a better place. I always hold doors open for people for example, and the look of genuine appreciation by most is very inspiring. when a weird looking person does something for you out of politeness and kindness, your mind is expanded a little. we are all in this together.

A feeling, more and more, of riding a wave of dharmic energy that seems to be swelling up and counterbalancing everything else happening in our crazy world. Being in the company of genuinely inspired brothers ans sisters who make it their life's work to be inspired by, and to inspire the living of true Dharma, radiating honesty and love and kindness in every act, look, gesture... becoming a Dharmic warrior is what has become my impetus to act and serve lately. Above all, the biggest inspiration is my beloved Satguru, who inspires and injects wisdom and courage by example.

--The children I work with. One little girl recently introduce me to her best friend, saying "He is my guruji". My heart just went *gush*.

what would you like to see more of, in your spiritual life?

    --Consistency.

~what is moving your heart these days? why?

When I see a homeless person on the side of the road holding up a sign, I may not have any food or money to give them though I always make it a point to connect with them. Tell them i wish them all the best and get their name so i can pray for them. I really try to incorporate the unity of all of our brothers and sisters in my day and in my life.

~what would you like to see more of, in your spiritual life?

Trusting the process and strengthening my faith. My mind likes to worry, question and doubt.

~what would you like to see more of, in the world?

Compassion , service, awareness. Not even towards other brothers and sisters which is always needed but even towards being conscious when throwing away a plastic container. Every little bit makes a difference.

Just my thoughts. Beautiful topic Alx...

Spiritually unity has shown me introspection, greater religious awareness,
          increased religious tolerance, peace, harmony.

Considering that there are many people who have differing views of the Divine and there are
many mysteries regarding the Divines nature, it seems appropriate that all who believe in the Divine
should be more accepting of these differing views and the inability to definitively describe the Divine and have more sence of unity in ones life.

More awareness, more consciousness - everywhere and with everyone, maybe this is how we will transform the planet, not through fighting the wrongness of things.

I agree. I think it takes people improving themselves to change society, not just political action. my father was a hippie, but he went to vietnam... when he came back he got yelled at for being a babykiller. where is the peace and love in that? I see the same thing with people nowadays... hatred for Bush, the administration, etc., (which hey, I think they're total mofos as well) but with the same viciousness that they decry... (of course I get into heated debates myself and argue, I can't say I'm perfect or better than anyone else)

anyway, what inspires me spiritually right this moment? my girlfriend, and the way we interact, the way we love each other, and the things she does for me, out of selflessness, trust and love.

I look at her and I see Shakti. not MY shakti. I see Mahashakti.

interacting with other people who are on the same page as me (not exactly the same page, that would be boring if everyone thought exactly like me!) and of course Ma.

        Edo and Saul --

        beautifully said.

I'm all for peace, harmony, love, transforming the planet, and not fighting with others about stuff (even though I veer into the side that Saul's talking about and do argue politics more often than I prob'ly should!) -- but my question to you guys is the same --

how are we implementing these ideals in the world, either the world at large, or the world around us or immediate family/friends, etc.?

what I'm getting at -- for everyone reading and who've already posted or are about to post -- is WHAT ARE WE DOING WITH OUR INSPIRATION?

are we turning it into something tangible or just making it through another day or......?

trying to affect others positively. trying not to let the little things get to me and bring out that anger.

am I succeeding? well, I think so - certainly not with lightning speed or anything tho :) someone at work called me "radiant" today while we were talking about spirituality. I think that was a very nice compliment!

surprisingly, while being a Hindu convert, he had never heard the story of Sati! I had to tell him about it to give some context to Shakti Pithas.

it is nice that I got a job working with a lot of other Hindus, of various persuasions, along with other wonderful people.

there is one teenage girl who works at the store part time who had obvious self mutilation on her arms - I had a rough childhood and teen years so I did the same thing back in the day. I noticed and showed her my old scars. yesterday she said that one of the people I am replacing used to have breaks where they ate cookies and she is going to miss it. I told her I'd be down for cookies, since I love 'em anyway. maybe I can help her have a happier teen experience than I had by being her friend and treating her like an equal.

          :)

hey, I get into big theological debates that sometimes get heated! hell, look at my posting history, I can be a real live wire! hehe!

being passionate about stuff is good, I think. believing strongly in things is good. it's letting it get you all pissed off and biting someone's head off (metaphorically... well, the other is not so rad either) that I try to avoid (with varying success).

you know, Saul, you can accomplish a lot of spiritual growth through cookies --!!!!!

this is a beautiful and inspiring episode. I think you're going to be of enormous inspiration and help to that young girl.

            that's really a mother's love.

Well as i stated unity but how that has inspired me spiritually has been feeding the homeless for over 15teen years to doing seva for many out reach programs. Being in the field of organic farming i have opened my doors to any group at no cost to them to supply food from the farm to help there cause in any way.I allso give half of what i earn to help anyone along this path in life.

: are we turning it into something tangible or just making it through another day or......? :

Thanks, Alx, for inviting me to your tribe. Your question is extremely pertinent and needed. Sometimes I do find myself must making it through another day.

One of the most important things I've learned (so far) from my yoga teacher is that spiritual practices need to be what he calls "sustainable". So that has been my focus over the past few years. At the beginning I would get all kinds of crazy ideas and go off on lots of tangents in my sadhana. It was a good learning experience and I'm glad I've entered this more manageable period.

You can't give what you don't have yourself. So, solo practice is essential to me. It's also very personal, but it centers around mantra. The mantra shakti gives me what little I do have to give, which I do mainly by teaching three yoga classes per week (all on a volunteer basis). This is no zero-sum game, though. I've definitely found that the more I give, the more I get. There's a snowball effect. But the foundation for me is regular, sustainable personal practice.

I am grateful to be able to be around others teaching methods and possiblities developed to increase our awareness. Energy and language based tools for transformation. Every day I get to play with people like this - how lucky am I? One of my targets is to be a moron...to be more & more ON all the time and be a different possibility for others to see. This is so fun for me - being a curiousity to others!
